A cold body swinging at full speed is one of the fastest ways to strain a muscle or mishit your opening shot. This quick 15-minute routine gets your hips, shoulders, and hands ready to swing freely, whether you’re stepping onto the tee or into the simulator bay.

Minutes 1-5: Loosen Up

  • Arm circles, 10 forward and 10 backward, to open up the shoulders
  • Torso twists holding a club across your shoulders to warm up the core
  • Bodyweight squats to get blood moving through your legs

Minutes 6-10: Rehearse the Motion

Grab a wedge and make slow, controlled half-swings, focusing on tempo rather than distance. Gradually lengthen the swing until you’re making smooth three-quarter shots. This is where you start syncing your body and the club instead of muscling through it.

Minutes 11-15: Build to Full Speed

Move through mid-irons and finish with a handful of full swings. By the time you’re done, your first real shot of the day should feel like your fifth or sixth, not your first.

Warming up isn’t optional, it’s the cheapest stroke you’ll ever save.

Stick to this routine before every round or simulator session and you’ll notice fewer mis-hits in the opening holes, plus a lot less soreness the next morning.
